2019 NAPBS Conference Recap and Highlights

What a weekend-plus it was at the NAPBS Annual Conference in San Antonio this past week. It's always great to spend time with our friends and colleagues, but this conference was extra special since we did a soft-launch of our new brand- SJV Data Solutions

The new branding, booth and messaging (see below) was just the tip of the iceberg and you can look forward to a new website and complete rebrand by the end of this year.

Before we file this one away and head into our Fall busy season, we thought it made sense to recap some of the highlights.

  1. NAPBS Becomes PBSA- In an effort to reflect its global reach, the National Association of Professional Background Screeners officially changed its name to the Professional Background Screeners Association. For companies like us that helped to start this association, this really is a big deal. What began as a backroom meeting among a handful of CRA's and providers, has evolved into a global organization with over 800 companies as members. Read the official announcement here.
  2. Robotic Processing Automation (RPA) is the Cat's Meow- We've known that the industry has been trending towards automation for quite some time. What surprised us is the speed in which the overwhelming majority of the industry has adopted the use of RPA and the appetite CRA's have for expanding its use. Need proof? Our own Nick Kelland presented a breakout session to a standing room only crowd on how RPA is changing the background screening industry and how SJV has used it to streamline their processes, reduce errors associated with manual labor, and drive down costs.
  3. Global Screening Market is Growing Up- In the past, most end-users just wanted to know their CRA's could conduct background checks on an international level. Now, as the labor market has expanded globally, it's not just a question of whether you do it, but how you do it. What are your sources? What are the relevant laws and customs? How can you make the process more efficient? SJV has been paying close attention to this trend over the last several years is well ahead of the curve here. Look for upcoming posts on what CRA's can do to make their international screening program more efficient and compliant.
  4. CRA's Demand Transparency and Accountability with Medical Sanctions Searches- As a significant portion of the CRA community is focused on the healthcare industry, they are seeing a complete lack of transparency, service, and cooperation, from the old industry standard. They are tired of the old solutions and looking for a provider that actually cares about their business and doesn't compete with them. Does this sound familiar? If so, check out our MedEx solution.

All in all, it was a great conference with a lot of enthusiasm from CRA's and PBSA. We'll look forward to the 2020 mid-year event in Washington D.C. which officially commences in on April 19th, 2020.
